Provide a platform to identify over 16,000 young talents and nurture them towards a pathway to becoming a world-class champion. 70% (55 out of 77 badminton students) at Akademi Badminton Malaysia are the Astro Kem Badminton participants.
The first Astro Kem Badminton selection camp was launched at a humble badminton hall in Penang in 2012. Since then, the programme continues to attract thousands of participants every year for a golden opportunity to be selected to participate in a 2-week Intensive Advance Training at the prestigious National Training Centre in Tokyo, Japan.

In its 8th season now, the programme remains committed to developing local talents through our grassroots selection camps held across six states in the country. As of current, we have trained over 16,000 kids nationwide and many of our graduates have gone on to greater success in their industry or are presently national badminton representatives.

Among our many success stories, is Jacky Kok. A former 2014 Astro Kem Badminton alumni and also a returning mentor in 2017, Jacky was a star performer throughout our programme and was eventually selected to train in the national youth squad representing Malaysia at badminton tournaments worldwide. In his own words, he said, “It does not matter if others laugh at you or say you will never succeed. Don’t listen to them and just work hard.” The badminton prodigy, whose journey began with our Astro Kem Badminton programme, today ranks third in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) charts for junior shuttlers. Jacky is an inspiration to all and a huge motivator to other prodigies who seek opportunities like Astro Kem Badminton for them to shine through.
