Astro AEC’s Evening Edition Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Two Prestigious News Awards

In conjunction with its 20th anniversary, Astro AEC’s Evening Edition has once again been recognised by the industry, garnering two distinguished news awards: the Award of Excellence – Professional Long-Form Video Category at the TVBS 2026 Global Sustainability Journalism Awards in Taiwan, and The Most Influential Chinese News Programme in Malaysia at The Knights Awards - Season 5. These accolades mark a significant milestone for the programme’s two-decade commitment to quality news and current affairs reporting.

At the TVBS 2026 Global Sustainability Journalism Awards, Evening Edition stood out with its special report series focusing on climate change and food security. Using Cameron Highlands as a case study, the report examined how temperatures in the region have risen by nearly 3°C over the past 40 years and the resulting impact on vegetable farmers. It also explored the growing challenges that extreme weather conditions pose to agricultural production and food security.

This year’s awards attracted 774 entries from 73 media organisations and institutions, as well as 23 schools across Australia, Malaysia, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The recognition underscores the programme’s commitment in producing in-depth reporting on environmental, social, and livelihood issues.

In addition, Evening Edition was awarded The Most Influential Chinese News Programme in Malaysia at The Knights Awards - Season 5. The award recognises the programme’s longstanding commitment to fact-checking, investigative journalism and coverage of community and social issues, while continuing to deliver important news to a wider audience across television and digital platforms.

These two recognitions affirm the programme’s journalistic excellence and reporting achievements, while adding special significance to Evening Edition’s 20th anniversary celebration.

Moving forward, Evening Edition will continue to uphold its principles of professionalism, objectivity and truth-seeking journalism while delivering insightful and meaningful news coverage on issues that matter most to society.
