Astro Arena proudly celebrated a remarkable night of recognition at the prestigious SAM 100PLUS Awards 2024, an event that honours excellence in both Malaysian sports and sports journalism.
Organised by the Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM) in collaboration with 100PLUS, the awards have been a cornerstone of sports recognition since their inception. The annual event not only celebrates the achievements of athletes but also acknowledges the vital role played by the local sports media in shaping the nation’s sporting narrative.
The awards were divided into six key categories: Best Print Report, Best Electronic Media Report, Best Print Media Commentary, Best Electronic Media Commentary, Best Special Report & Best Photograph Award. The most coveted honour, the Siebel Award, was presented to the best overall sportswriter, accompanied by a trophy and a cash prize of RM10,000.
Astro Arena emerged as a dominant force at the ceremony, with three of its team members taking home top honours:
• Fina Nasrom – Siebel Award for her compelling piece “Tujuh Faisal Halim”
• Fina Nasrom – Best Special Report for “Tujuh Faisal Halim”
• Aiman Rohisham – Popular Sports Commentator
• Fadhirul Shuhaimi – Best Electronic Media Report
These accolades are a testament to Astro Arena’s unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality sports journalism and storytelling. The victories underscore the network’s position as a leader in Malaysian sports media, consistently setting the benchmark for excellence.
