Astro Continues Its Partnership with Liga Malaysia, Driving Local Football Forward
Astro customers can enjoy live match coverage, fresh insights from a new pundit lineup, and a comprehensive viewing experience across all platforms
KUALA LUMPUR, 21 August 2026 – Astro today announced the continuation of its role as the Official Broadcaster of the Malaysia League for the next two seasons, bringing fans live high-definition (HD) coverage of the Perlawanan Sumbangsih, Liga Super, Piala FA, Piala Malaysia and the MFL Challenge Cup across its broadcast and streaming platforms.
Nicholas John, Head of Sports, Astro, said, “As the Official Broadcaster of the Malaysia League, Astro sees these matches as more than just football competitions. They serve as a platform that brings supporters together and contributes to the growth of the local sports ecosystem. The momentum we witnessed last season has reinforced our confidence in the league’s potential. Sooka recorded a 52% increase in total viewing minutes, while Malaysia League content across Astro’s digital and social media platforms generated more than 575 million views over the past three seasons. This growth reflects the rising interest in local football and motivates us to continue delivering the best viewing experience for fans.”
Dato' Ab Ghani Hassan, President of the Malaysian Football League (MFL) said, “MFL is delighted to continue its partnership with Astro as the Official Broadcaster of the Malaysia League. This ongoing collaboration reflects both parties’ confidence in the potential and future of local football, while ensuring that Malaysia League competitions continue to receive extensive coverage and remain accessible to fans nationwide. We appreciate Astro’s continued commitment to strengthening the commercial value of the Malaysia League and the local football ecosystem, and we are confident that this partnership will continue to benefit MFL, clubs, and the Malaysian football community.”
New Faces and Formats for a More Dynamic Experience
This new season will introduce two influential figures in local football, Nidzam Jamil and Yusri Che Lah, who will join Astro’s pundit lineup for the first time. Their experience as both players and coaches are expected to provide deeper insights and analysis of matches, complementing Astro’s existing panel of experts comprising Zaquan Adha, Razman Roslan, Farizal Marlias, Nizaruddin Yusof, and Datuk Zainal Abidin Hassan.
At the same time, a refreshed studio format will give football experts a larger role in hosting programmes and leading discussions. Keesh “Mat Stats” and Faiz Gurun will front the Liga Super coverage, while Bang Med will lead coverage of the Piala FA and Piala Malaysia.
Astro’s commitment to nurturing and developing young football talent also continues through #IniPadangKita. This year, the initiative is being expanded to selected schools, providing young people with opportunities to engage with football players while further cultivating their passion for the sport.
The Malaysia League matches will be broadcast live on Arena Bola (CH 803 & 804), Astro GO, NJOI, and Sooka. Fans can also stay updated through Astro’s digital platforms, including Stadium Astro, as well as Astro Arena’s official social media channels.
