Celebrate Malaysia with Over 40 Local Blockbuster Hits Free on Astro and NJOI

Malaysiaku (CH 700) available from 30th Aug - 17th Sept 2019

In conjunction with Malaysia’s National Day, Astro and NJOI customers can enjoy over 40 Malaysian films and premium documentaries for free on a dedicated Malaysiaku HD Channel (CH 700) from 30 August to 17 September 2019. The titles are available on Astro TV, On Demand and Astro Go as well as NJOI.

Our local films and documentaries showcase the diversity and multi-cultures of Malaysia. This year, Astro celebrates Malaysia with over 40 multi-lingual local movies that have kept Malaysians united and continue to remind us of our rich heritage. The titles will bring back memories to many Malaysians and at the same time, inject a sense of history and pride in the younger generation. Young and old, all Malaysians will discover their favourites among the programmes.

Popular Malaysian films
During this period, Malaysiaku channel will present P. Ramlee’s classics - Pendekar Bujang Lapok, Do Re Mi, Ali Baba Bujang Lapok, Nujum Pa’ Blalang and Sergeant Hassan; Yasmin Ahmad’s Sepet, Gubra, Talentime, Mukhsin, Rabun and Muallaf; as well as more recent blockbusters, some of which charted history in the Malaysian box office, including Ola Bola and The Journey directed by Chiu Keng Guan; Hantu Kak Limah a blockbuster hit by Mamat Khalid; En Veetu Thottathil by Karthik Shamalan; Munafik 1 & 2 by Syamsul Yusof; Paskal by Adrian Teh; Abang Long Fadil 1 & 2 by Syafiq Yusof; and, many more.

Entertaining Documentaries
Customers can also enjoy premiering Malaysiaku documentaries including Tun Dr. Mahathir: Perjuangan Belum Selesai, a documentary reliving the historical 2018 Malaysian General Election; the Road to Nationhood documentary series; Serve & Smash: The Thomas Cup 1992 about Malaysia’s road to badminton glory in 1992; Sapok Biki: The Iban Boxer, a story about putting Malaysia on the international map for boxing; and, Tigers Resurrected – The Suzuki Cup 2010, reliving the electrifying atmosphere as Malaysia faced off against Indonesia in the Suzuki Cup finals. Astro customers can also revisit fifty years of Malaysian Chinese pop music and learn of industry challenges in At the Equator, We Sing; and in Work to Live, learn about the younger generation who is breathing new life into traditional crafts; while #JomPolam features a young woman’s journey across Malaysia’s East Coast exploring scenic sights and intriguing traditions.

Great kids line-up
Younger audiences can enjoy Wizards of Warna Walk, a local adaptation of ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’, which follows the adventures of a normal Malaysian family, who are wizards and have magical powers; and a special 3-day marathon of Upin & Ipin.

Additionally, Malaysians can also enjoy the Oh Malaysiaku song and music video featuring Rocketfuel talents: Usop, Masya Masyitah, William, and Lil J performing alongside talents from Ceria Megastar Ministar: Timah, Cici, Eiffel and Aliff.
