KUALA LUMPUR, 11 JUNE 2026 – After 30 years on air, HITZ is handing over the microphone — and bracing itself for impact. As part of its 30th anniversary celebrations, Malaysia’s No.1 English radio station will present The Roast of HITZ, Malaysia’s No.1 “retirement party”, on 19 June 2026 at The Platform, Menara KEN TTDI. This one-night-only event will bring together comedians, creators, former announcers, artists and listeners for an evening celebrating three decades of HITZ through humour, nostalgia and absolutely no mercy.
More than just a roast, the event serves as a tribute to the personalities, creators and artists who have shaped HITZ and influenced Malaysian youth culture over the past three decades. The show will feature a diverse lineup of comedians, creators, radio personalities and artists who have made a lasting impact on the entertainment industry in Malaysia and beyond. Leading the charge are some of the region’s most recognised comedy talents, including Singapore’s Fadzri Rashid, alongside Malaysian favourites Dr. Jason Leong, Kavin Jay and Keren Bala Devan, all ready to put the HITZ team firmly in the hot seat.
The event will also reunite familiar voices from HITZ’s past and present, including former HITZ announcers Juanita, Adam C as Roast Master and host, and Jinnyboy, whose influence extended beyond radio to help shape Malaysia’s digital content landscape. Widely regarded as one of the pioneers of Malaysia’s YouTube industry, Jinnyboy’s return adds another layer of nostalgia to the celebration. Joining the comedians will be popular social media personality Ceddy Ang, known for his sharp wit, as well as Singaporean actress and host Munah Bagharib.
Beyond the roasts and punchlines, audiences can also look forward to special performances from artists who have been part of HITZ’s journey through the years, including Salome Das, acclaimed Malaysian singer-songwriter Claudia Tan and legendary Malaysian alternative rock band Disagree, whose music was a staple during HITZ’s early years. The appearance of both Disagree and Claudia Tan on the same stage reflects the evolution of Malaysian music over the past three decades, from era-defining bands to the next generation of artists, and highlights HITZ’s ongoing commitment to supporting local talent.
In the spirit of the event, listeners hoping to attend will need to prove they can take a joke and tell one too. To secure a seat, fans must submit their own roast of HITZ through the HITZ app as part of the registration process. Whether it’s a playful jab at the station, a humorous observation about the announcers or a memorable HITZ moment worth revisiting, listeners are encouraged to get creative, with selected entries potentially featured during the event itself.
“When we started planning our 30th anniversary celebration, we knew it couldn’t just be about HITZ,” said Sean Farrell Matjeraie, Brand Manager of HITZ. “It had to be about the people who helped make HITZ what it is today the listeners, personalities, comedians, creators and artists who have been part of the journey. The Roast of HITZ brings all of those worlds together for one night. It’s a celebration of where we’ve been, the talent we’ve supported and the community that has grown with us over the last three decades.”
Over the years, HITZ has been part of countless defining moments in Malaysian youth culture, from introducing listeners to global artists and chart-topping hits to launching careers and creating memorable on-air experiences. The Roast of HITZ serves as both a celebration of that legacy and a reflection of the personalities and stories that have shaped the station since 1996. The event also offers a rare opportunity for multiple generations of HITZ personalities, creators and artists to come together on one stage, giving longtime listeners a chance to reconnect with familiar voices while introducing newer audiences to the station’s lasting cultural impact.
The Roast of HITZ is open to the public free of charge. To participate, listeners can download the HITZ app via the Apple App Store, Google Play Store or Huawei AppGallery, submit their roast and complete the RSVP process. Each device is entitled to one seat redemption, while seats last, with registration closing on 18 June 2026.
While the event celebrates HITZ’s past, it also marks the beginning of its next chapter. Following the successful launch of its latest announcer search, which introduced a new generation of talent to Malaysian radio, HITZ continues to evolve its content, platforms and audience experiences to remain at the forefront of youth culture. “As we celebrate this milestone, we’re reminded that HITZ has always been more than just a radio station,” Sean added. “It’s a community built by generations of listeners, personalities, creators and partners who have grown with us over the years, and we’re excited to continue creating moments that entertain, inspire and connect Malaysians for many more years to come.”
Thirty years after first going on air, HITZ remains one of Malaysia’s most influential youth entertainment brands, continuing to connect with new generations through music, personalities, digital content and live experiences while staying true to the energy that made it a household name. The Roast of HITZ is more than an anniversary celebration — it is a thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey, a reunion of the voices and talents that helped shape it, and the perfect way to kick off the next 30 years.
