Malaysian street dancers, it’s time for you to shine like gold.
Stand a chance to be captained by Malaysia’s top dancers in an exciting street dance competition and be featured in Battleground Malaysia: Road to Gold, a 6-episode reality talent show produced by Astro.
Audition for Battleground Malaysia: Road to Gold by posting your solo or group (up to 10 dancers) dance routine video on TikTok/Instagram with the hashtag #BTGMYaudition. The online audition runs from 17 June to 2 July 2023 for those between the age of 9 and 30.
Shortlisted dancers will proceed to a second round of on-ground audition at AEON Mall Shah Alam on 8 and 9 July where 60 dancers will be selected to participate in Battleground Malaysia: Road to Gold.
From here, 4 eminent captains will form their dance crews and shape their dancers into a cohesive unit by testing their individual skills through various dance challenges. Only the strongest dancers will proceed through the competition.
The 4 captains are 2-time SEA Games Gold medalist in breaking Lego Sam, fellow Malaysian B-Boy SEA Games representative Mohammad Faridh “Khenobu” Mohd Yasin, music & dance group 3P (Threee Production)’s Danny Lee and Astro Battleground 2010 and 2011’s dancer in the winning team Savoon (@savooneleven).
In the finals, only the 3 remaining dance crews will be left competing, performing live in front of international judges. The winning team will receive a grand prize of RM100,000, the 1st runner-up will take home RM30,000. Additionally, individuals in the top group will go head-to-head against each other. The best dancer will get an overall champion prize of RM25,000.
Battleground Malaysia: Road to Gold is a joint initiative with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
