KUALA LUMPUR, 25 February 2025 – The fourth and final Klinik Netball Super League (Klinik NSL) was held at Sekolah Menengah Pulau Carey. 300 students participated in the event which witnessed a total of nearly 700 students in total for all four Klinik NSL. This includes Klinik NSL open registration at Sports Arena @ Uniten, Velodrome Iskandar Puteri in Johor and Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara
Only one school was selected for Klinik NSL this season and SMK Pulau Carey was chosen to provide basic netball exposure to students who are mostly from indigineous tribe, Orang Asli Mahmeri. To ignite their love for netball, Astro donated netball posts and balls to the school, in hopes students will continue pursuing netball furthermore developing their skills.
Astro Chief of Staff & Head of Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Foo Su Lynn, said, “Klinik NSL is a valuable addition to the NSL, which has entered its fourth season. We believe sports is serve as an excellent platform for empowering the younger generation. We hope Klinik NSL will provide greater opportunities for students especially those in rural areas to learn and develope a passion for netball. Astro Kasih ESG is proud to cooperate with Astro Sports in strengthening this initiative. Beyond fostering grassroot development, it also plays a crucial role in bringing communities together through sports.”
“We believe the experience gained from Klinik NSL will spur the younger generation in developing themselves to reach their highest potential especially with the guidance from national netball coaches.This initiative reflects our commitment to creating a lasting positive impact on the nation through ESG and sports,” she added.
She also expressed Astro’s appreciation for the continued support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and the Ministry of Education (KPM) in ensuring the smooth execution of Astro-led sports clinics, including Astro Kem Badminton (AKB) and Klinik Sepak Takraw League (Klinik STL), which were successfully held last year.
Meanwhile, Klinik NSL head coach and Wilayah Persekutuan, Kuala Lumpur netball coach, Husna Hussin Ali, said this program is a good start especially with the resounding response by students. "Students activated their school holidays by attending Klinik NSL, not only was it a funfilled event but also provided valuable knowledge and skills for the participants. Throughout Klinik NSL, I witnessed great potential among the students. As a coach, I’m inspired to see the passion and spirit from the participants and we hope this experience will be the first step for them to pursue netball and may their journey in the sport continue to flourish. Who knows, they may be one of the NSL stars or even represent Malaysia in the near future,” she added.
Top players from Klinik NSL brought home NSL exclusive merchandise and the best students were selected to play a netball match live on Astro Arena, on the actual NSL court! The fourth season of NSLcame to an end on Sunday where KL Wildcats were crowned champions in a thrilling final against Putrajaya Dynamites, meanwhile defending champions, Johor Jewels ended the season in third.
