Malaysians can stream live Thaipusam coverage on Astro

Stream online with Astro Ulagam, or on Astro GO via Vaanavil and Vinmeen HD

Kuala Lumpur, 5 February 2020 – Malaysians can stream live Thaipusam coverage online via Astro Ulagam, on 7 and 8 February. All Astro customers can also stream live coverage via Astro GO on Vaanavil (CH 201) and Vinmeen HD (CH231), on 7 and 8 February. Live coverage will be available from temples in Ipoh, Penang and Sungai Petani.

Malaysians can share their favorite Thaipusam photos on Instagram with the hashtag #VelVel for a chance to be featured in the Astro Ulagam live stream.

Astro customers can also enjoy a variety of devotional programmes this Thaipusam, including:

‘Thirupugazh’, a talk show on the famous Tamil saint-poet, Arunagirinathar’s anthology of Tamil religious songs, featuring guest speakers: Dr Jaya Balan Valliappan, medical specialist; and Darmalingam Nadarajan, President of local association ‘Malaysia Saiva Narpani Kalagam’, hosted by Revathy Mariappan on Vaanavil (CH 201) and Vinmeen HD (CH231).

•Movies, ‘Thunaivan’, ‘Thiruvarul’, ‘Thaipusam’, and ‘Kandhar Alangaram’ on Vellithirai (CH 202).

Malaysians can also stream documentary, ‘The Journey of a Kavadi Carrier` on RAAGA, Malaysia’s No. 1 Tamil radio brand, via website, social media platforms and the SYOK app. Additionally, RAAGA announcers will provide live updates on-air from Thaipusam celebrations at Batu Caves, Penang, Ipoh and Johor Bahru. Malaysians can also stand a chance to win exclusive RAAGA merchandise from now till 9 February, by posting their happiest Thaipusam moments on Instagram with #raagavel2020 in their caption.
