RAAGA volunteers carry disabled up Batu Caves

In collaboration with NGO, Tamilan Uthavum Karangal (Tamilan Helping Hands)

Kuala Lumpur, 22 January 2019 - RAAGA’s Kalakkal Kaalai (Breakfast crew), Suresh and Ahila, joined hands with Malaysian NGO, ‘Tamilan Uthavum Karangal’ (Tamilan Helping Hands) to carry 85 wheelchair-using devotees up Batu Caves, KL on Sunday, 19 January 2020.

ABOUT THE EVENT:

• In conjunction with 2020 Thaipusam celebrations, RAAGA announcers Suresh and Ahila collaborated with local NGO founded by social worker, A Muraly and approximately 250 ‘Tamilan Uthavum Karangal’ volunteers to provide the annual service of assisting the disabled up Batu Caves.

• Volunteers helped wheelchair-using devotees navigate up 272 steps at Batu Caves, to fulfil their vows and complete their prayers without difficulties.

• This years’ service was officiated by V. Ganapathi Rao, Selangor state exco member, and was also graced by P. Prabakaran, Batu Member of Parliament; and Ratnavalli Ammaiyar, philanthropist and social worker.
