Stream Malaysia’s first Tamil rap competition online with Astro Ulagam, on Astro GO and TV from 22 February
Kuala Lumpur, 31 January 2020 – RAP Porkalam has revealed the top 16 shortlisted talented rappers of Malaysia’s first Tamil rap competition, after fierce competition at the audition earlier this month.
Malaysians can vote for their favourite from the top 16 – up to 50 times a day – via Astro Ulagam website. Voting for Stage 1 is open now until 4 February; for Stage 2 from 19 till 25 February; and for the Wild Card round, from 18 till 24 March. The RAP Porkalam champion will take home a cash prize of RM5000 and a collaboration with Sony Music Malaysia to release a debut single, while the 1st runner-up will take home RM2000 in cash, with an option to collaborate with Sony Music Malaysia to release a debut single.

Tharagai, 24-year-old shortlisted contestant of RAP Porkalam, said, “My love for rap, composing songs and writing lyrics has always been my passion and I hope to inspire young girls one day.”
Naren Zac, 20-year-old shortlisted contestant of RAP Porkalam, said, “I recorded my first track when I was 16, and full-length mixtape when I was 18. RAP Porkalam will be a great platform for young talents like me to make our dreams of becoming a rapper, a reality.”
