Following the notification from the Ministry of Health (MOH), Astro Malaysia confirms that an employee at its sales office in KK Times Square, Kota Kinabalu has been tested positive for COVID-19 on 12 November 2020.

An Astro spokesperson said, “Importantly, the employee is receiving medical treatment at a government hospital, and we hope for speedy recovery. We wish to emphasise that health and safety of our employees is our biggest priority. We are working with the health authorities to identify those who have come in contact with the employee concerned. Primary contacts will be tested and then home quarantined for 14 days.”

As a precautionary measure, Astro will close its premise in KK Times Square on 12 Nov and 13 Nov so that thorough cleaning and disinfection can continue. The Astro offices at KK Times Square will reopen on Monday, 16 Nov 2020.

Since the beginning of the MCO Astro has increased the frequency and intensity of cleaning at all its sites. In addition Astro has restricted staff travel, encouraged video-based meetings, suspending admission of live studio audiences in shows and communicated to employees to practice good personal hygiene at all times.

Astro’s operations are unimpacted by this development unless informed otherwise; and has business continuity plans in place to safeguard our operations.
